FAQ

What is the neutral sensory study space?

Neutral sensory study space is a low light environment designed to reduce sensory overload and distractions.

The inclusive spaces feature:

  • individual desks
  • individual task light at desks
  • silent study space
  • free from food smells.

Be mindful these are shared spaces open to anyone who can benefit from studying in such an environment. Remember to switch off the desk light when you leave.

When using neutral sensory study spaces in the Library, you must adhere to the following conditions:

  • Your behaviour should not disrupt other Library clients
  • No talking or group work
  • Turn mobile phones off or switch to silent
  • Cold drinks are allowed but food is not permitted - you can eat food in one of the designated eating areas in the Library
  • Remove all rubbish and personal items and leave spaces clean
  • Be mindful of your belongings - the Library takes no responsibility for personal items.

Find the neutral sensory study spaces at Main Library on Levels 3 and 6, near the rear stairwell (behind the lifts).
