What's Library collection ‘Research Assistant’?

Research Assistant is a generative AI tool in the Library collection. It enables UNSW staff and students to use natural language in constructing search queries.

Use Research Assistant to:

  • Start your search and get a generated overview of a new topic, drawn from academic sources.
  • Discover at least five relevant resources that can aid in answering your query and explore the full search results list.
  • Search in languages other than English - Research Assistant supports multiple languages.

Sign in to use Research Assistant in Library collection.

Select the About Research Assistant link within the tool to learn how to use it, how responses are generated, supported/unsupported questions, and how to formulate a good question.

Content limitations

Research Assistant utilises metadata and abstracts only. It doesn’t include the following types of resources:

  • News content, such as newspaper articles, newsletters, and text resources.
  • Sources with insufficient metadata and abstracts.
  • Documents marked as withdrawn or retracted, retraction notes.
  • Any collections from the following publishers: Elsevier, DataCite and JSTOR.
