FAQ

Does my research need a Digital Object Identifier (DOI)?

Before depositing into UNSWorks, consider if your research output requires a DOI.

If you intend to:

  • publish your work elsewhere (e.g. in a research collaborator’s repository), only one DOI is allocated to the research output
  • expand on research contained in a report you are publishing to create a journal article, ensure you review the prospective journal outlet’s policy on prior publication before publishing to UNSWorks.

Once published to UNSWorks, research outputs with a DOI cannot be taken down. The exception to this is in cases of copyright infringement and other specified reasons.

If you are unsure, discuss with your Outreach Librarian.
